Chemical Week Magazine :: Regulatory EPA Offers Reduced Fines for Newly Acquired Plants9:24 AM MDT | August 18, 2008 | Kara Sissell EPA has proposed an interim policy that offers reduced penalties to companies that have recently acquired regulated facilities, providing that the new owners conduct audits and disclose any environmental violations. The policy is open for public comment until October 30. EPA says its current policy offers reduced penalties to companies that self-audit their facilities, promptly disclose any violations, and take steps to prevent future violations.
