Chemical Week Magazine :: Regulatory EPA Excludes Certain Fuels from Hazwaste Requirements10:20 AM MST | December 19, 2008 | Kara Sissell EPA has finalized a rule that will exclude certain wastes from federal regulatory requirements governing the storage, transportation, and burning of hazardous waste. The changes to the “comparative fuel exclusion rule” will allow certain hazardous secondary materials, called emission comparable fuels (ECF), to be burned for energy recovery in industrial boilers. Such fuels previously would be subject to rules governing hazardous waste disposal, EPA says. ECF is “handled in such a way that it is not discarded in any phase of management, but...
