EPA Cites New Jersey for Poor Superfund Management

EPA’s Inspector General (IG) has criticized EPA’s Region 2 and New Jersey’s Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP; Trenton) for inordinate delays and mismanagement of state-supervised Superfund cleanups. The IG recommends that federal officials take over a majority of the cleanups to ensure they are completed as quickly as possible.
