Lawmakers in dozens of states plan action of chemical restrictions

State legislatures will advance a number of bills in 2013 that lawmakers and advocacy groups say reflect heightened consumer-concern regarding certain substances and declining confidence in federal regulation of toxic chemicals. The majority of measures target flame retardants and regulation or labeling for bisphenol A (BPA), according to an analysis by the nongovernmental organization Safer States (Portland, OR).
