Sanofi-Aventis to Buy Firms in Brazil and U.S.

Sanofi-Aventis (Paris) says it has agreed to acquire Medley (Campinas, Brazil), Brazil’s largest generics drugmaker and third-largest pharmaceutical company, for about €500 million ($650 million). Separately, Sanofi-Aventis has inked a deal to acquire BiPar Sciences (Brisbane, CA), a privately held biopharma company, for up to $500 million, depending on the achievement of certain milestone payments.
