Merck KGaA to Add Capacity

Merck KGaA says its pharma raw materials business unit is expanding its activities and that the unit was split last month into two divisions: biopharma tools and classical pharma raw materials. The pharma raw materials unit will invest about €8.5 million ($12.7 million) to build a manufacturing facility for process solutions to make biopharmaceuticals at Darmstadt, Germany, and is establishing a major biopharma R&D facility in the U.S., Merck told CW at the CPhI expo, held recently in Madrid.
