Merck KGaA Buys Ionic Liquids Firm

Merck KGaA says it acquired ionic liquids technology company Solvent Innovation (Cologne, Germany) late last year. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Merck has been involved in ionic liquids research for the past five years and Solvent Innovation has pioneered the technology for the past 10 years, Merck says. The acquisition will enable Merck to expand its application know-how and production capacity, the company says.
