FDA Launches Program to Improve Drug Safety

The U.S. FDA has launched a voluntary pilot program to help promote the safety of drugs and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) produced outside the U.S. The agency plans to select 100 applicants to participate in the program, the Secure Supply Chain. The program will run for two years and help mitigate risks such as contamination and counterfeiting, FDA says. Leavitt: FDA to work more closely with manufacturers.
