Cambrex’s Third-Quarter Profits Rise

Cambrex reported a 30% hike in third-quarter operating profits, to $3.5 million, on sales up 2.3%, to $54.7 million. The figures relate solely to ongoing businesses. Cambrex sold its biotechnology and biopharmaceuticals unit to Lonza in the past year. Lower sales volumes for certain generic active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and contractual price declines for a high-volume APIs were offset partially by strong gains in sales of products based on the company’s polymeric drug delivery technology, Cambrex says.
