The National Academy of Sciences (NAS; Washington) has recommended that the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) withdraw a proposal that would have overhauled how federal agencies conduct risk assessments. A panel of scientists convened by NAS’s National Research Council says the proposed risk assessment guidelines are “fundamentally flawed” and would not lead to better public health protections.
