Chemical Week Magazine :: Other Rhodia, Cobalt Plan Biobased n-Butanol Plant in Brazil7:59 AM MDT | August 17, 2012 | —Rebecca Coons Cobalt Technologies (Mountain View, CA) says it has signed an agreement with Solvay’s Rhodia business to build a demonstration-scale production facility for biobased n-butanol at an undisclosed site in Brazil. Detailed cost estimates of the plant are not being disclosed, but Cobalt CFO Steven Shevick tells CW that it is not expected to exceed $15 million. Under the terms of the agreement, Cobalt and Rhodia will build and operate the plant, which will validate Cobalt’s technology and its ability to integrate with existing sugar mills in Brazil. Work...
