Novamont Advances Bio-BDO

Novamont (Novara, Italy), a biodegradable plastics firm, expects to start producing 1,4-butanediol (BDO) from renewable resources in mid-2013. The company announced recently it would convert a plant that it is acquiring from BioItalia at Adria, Italy—part of a previously announced partnership with Genomatica (San Diego)—to use Genomatica technology.
