Jet Propellant Goes Green

Honeywell’s UOP (Des Plaines, IL) says it has been awarded $6.7 million from the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop bio-based jet fuels. The aim of the project is to commercialize a process to convert vegetable and algal oils into jet propellant 8 (JP-8) to be used by U.S. and NATO militaries.
