Butamax Plans Ethanol Retrofit; Patent Dispute Continues

Highwater: Butamax announces its first production partner. Butamax Advanced Biofuels (Wilmington, DE), an isobutanol jv between DuPont and BP, has signed a letter of intent to convert a Lamberton, MN ethanol facility to produce biobased butanol. Highwater Ethanol (Lamberton), which operates the 50 million gals/year ethanol plant, has agreed to be an “early adopter” of Butamax’s retrofit technology. Other terms were not disclosed. Butamax says it expects to begin deploying retrofit technology in 2013, after spending next year...
