Chemical Week Magazine :: Newsbriefs Thai Petchem Firms Help Pollution Victims at Map Ta Phut1:15 PM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Petrochemical companies, grouped under the Federation of Thai Industries Petrochemical Industry Club, plan to establish a baht4-billion ($115 million) fund to assist local residents with health problems allegedly caused by air pollution at the Map Ta Phut, Thailand industrial estate. Most of Thailand’s petchem production is located at Map Ta Phut. The fund will be disbursed over a two-year period, companies say. It is in addition to a combined baht7.2 billion of investments pledged by petchem firms last March to cut sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide...
