Teijin to build meta-aramid fiber plant in Thailand

Teijin announced 11 July that it will invest ¥4.5 billion ($45 million) in a plant in Thailand that will produce a new type of meta-aramid fiber. The plant will be located within the company’s site in Ayutthaya Province. Construction will begin in December with production scheduled from July 2015. The newly developed fiber will strengthen the Teijin group’s global presence in the protective apparel market, where demand for high-performance materials is increasing, the company says.
