Teijin exits p-xylene business

Teijin says it has stopped producing para -xylene ( p -xylene) at its plant at Matsuyama, Japan. The 290,000-m.t./year plant there was the only location where Teijin produced p -xylene. Teijin tells CW that the company decided in January to stop producing and selling p -xylene because of poor profitability and that production ended in March. Teijin had produced p -xylene at its Matsuyama plant since 1973. Competitors worldwide have recently invested to expand their p -xylene production capacities, a trend that has upset the supply-demand balance and hampered...
