SunEdison polysilicon plant in Italy to stay closed

Semiconductor and solar technology firm SunEdison (St. Peters, MO) says its polysilicon manufacturing facility at Merano, Italy, will remain closed indefinitely. The decision affects about 200 employees and concludes a process that began in 2011 with a worldwide restructuring plan in response to challenging conditions in the markets for semiconductor-device and solar-cell raw materials.
