Shokubai counts cost of Himeji plant explosion

Nippon Shokubai has provided CW with an exclusive update on the situation at its Himeji, Japan, manufacturing complex following the 29 September explosion and fire there. The accident resulted in the death of one firefighter, as well as several serious injuries, and closed the entire complex until further notice. The accident knocked out about 18% of global capacity for superabsorbent polymers (SAP), Nippon Shokubai says.
