Chemical Week Magazine :: Newsbriefs Praxair starts up ASU for Braskem’s PVC unit in Brazil7:14 AM MST | January 18, 2013 Praxair’s Brazilian subsidiary White Martins has started up a new air separation unit (ASU) at Alagoas, Brazil. Praxair will supply nitrogen and oxygen to Braskem as a part of a long-term contract. The plant will supply Braskem’s expanded polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unit with 200 m.t./day of nitrogen and oxygen capacity from the ASU. Braskem invested $500 million in the new ASU, which is the highest investment ever made by the company for a single project in Brazil, Praxair says.
