Potash export decline

Exports of potash fertilizers from Russia fell during 2013 in volume and value terms, the Federal Customs Service (Moscow) says. Volumes dropped 29.6%, to 6.32 million m.t., and the value of export sales was down 40%, to $2.19 billion. Uralkali (Berezniki) is the only potash producer in Russia, and it has a share of about 20% of worldwide production. Last year, Uralkali caused turmoil in global potash markets when it pulled out of an export venture with Belaruskali (Soligorsk, Belarus). The move hurt industry revenue and profitability...
