Mitsui, Idemitsu to Rationalize Chiba Complex

Mitsui Chemicals says it plans to restructure its petrochemical operations at Chiba, Japan “to flexibly and effectively manage” the company’s existing partnership with Idemitsu Kosan. The companies formed a 50-50 alliance in 2010 by combining Mitsui’s 553,000-m.t./year steam cracker at Chiba with Idemitsu’s 374,000-m.t./year Chiba cracker. The companies will implement optimization and rationalization measures for the two units, Mitsui says.
