Merck KGaA sells assets of Chemische Fabrik Lehrte

Merck KGaA says it has agreed to sell the laboratory equipment and production units of Chemische Fabrik Lehrteâ€”a business within Merck that produces industrial salts at Lehrte, Germanyâ€”to SchÃ¼ssler Novachem (Halle, Germany), a manufacturer of inorganic salts. Further details of the deal have not been disclosed. Merck announced in 2012 that the production of industrial salts at Lehrte would be discontinued in 2014 and that the company would continue to operate the relevant business from the company headquarters, at Darmstadt, Germany.
