Invista plans to produce nylon-12

Koch Industries’ Invista subsidiary plans to become a significant supplier of nylon-12, building its position on a new monomer technology, the company announced on 18 December. Invista says it will soon employ the new technology at pilot scale with the intent of beginning product qualifications with potential customers as early as 2015. “If the pilot is successful, Invista would become the first new fully integrated nylon-12 producer in more than 30 years,” says Ed Sullivan, global business director/C12 intermediates.
