Ineos reopens Grangemouth; receives grant, guarantee

Ineos announced in late October that it would restart its Grangemouth, UK, petrochemicals complex and oil refinery with immediate effect. The move followed the Unite trade union’s “dramatic U-turn and its belated recognition that Ineos’s survival plan is the only way to ensure Grangemouth’s long-term survival,” the company says. Unite’s members had been on strike in protest over a company investigation of a union convenor, who has since resigned.
