Chemical Week Magazine :: Newsbriefs GrowHow, Rhodia Plan U.K. Closures12:50 PM MDT | October 30, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff GrowHow U.K., a recently created fertilizer joint venture between Kemira GrowHow and Terra Industries, plans to close its manufacturing facility at Severnside, U.K. with the loss of 127 jobs. The closure will take place by the end of January 2008, causing GrowHow to incur one-off costs estimated at about £13 million ($26.5 million). The Severnside facility “cannot be operated cost-effectively,” GrowHow says. Separately, Rhodia plans to close its site at Avonmouth, near Severnside, citing competition from Asian producers.
