GCC capacity to soar

Petrochemicals and chemicals capacity in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states is forecast to reach 191.2 million m.t./year by 2020, a 50% increase from 127.8 million m.t./year in 2012, according to the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA; Dubai). The numbers were announced in GPCAâ€™s annual update of its database. Driving the growth is Saudi Arabia, which is expected to add 40.6 million m.t./year of capacity by 2020. Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are in second and third place and slated to add 10 million m.t./year and 8.3 million...
