Chemical Week Magazine :: Newsbriefs Fire at Tosoh VCM Plant8:10 AM MST | November 26, 2011 Tosoh says that a fire broke out following an explosion on November 13 at the company’s No. 2 vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plant at Nanyo, Japan. One employee died as a result of the incident, Tosoh says. The cause of the accident had not been established by CW press time. Operations at the No. 2 VCM plant, which has a capacity of 550,000 m.t./year, and the No. 3 VCM plant at the site were halted temporarily following the accident.
