Explosion at Totalâ€™s Antwerp refinery kills two

An explosion on 19 November at Totalâ€™s 360,000-bbl/day refinery at Antwerp killed two contractor employees, the company says. The blast occurred while maintenance was being carried out at a steam-generation system in a gasoline production unit, Total says. Several units were shut down at the refinery and an emergency plan activated following the explosion. The blast did not cause a fire, and no hydrocarbons were released into the air, the company says.
