Eastman plans Tritan expansion at Kingsport

Eastman Chemical says it will increase capacity for Tritan copolyester at Kingsport, TN, to support growing applications for bisphenol A–free polymers in medical, durable goods, and infant-care markets. The company says it will increase capacity from 60,000 m.t./year to 76,000 m.t./year through a series of capital projects. The additional capacity is expected to be completed by mid-2014. Eastman has already doubled its Tritan capacity, having sold out of its original 30,000-m.t./year Kingsport production line within a year of Tritan’s introduction in May...
