Eastman debottlenecks Kingsport butyric acid plant

Kingsport: Eastman plans to add 11 million lbs of annual capacity by year-end. Eastman Chemical says it will launch a debottlenecking of its Kingsport, TN, butyric acid plant. Completion is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2013, and the project will add 11 million lbs/year of capacity to the plant, Eastman says. Butyric acid is a naturally occurring short-chain fatty acid found in the human body, butter, and numerous other sources.
