EU chemical output falls by 1.4% in first half compared with year-ago

EU chemical production decreased by 1.4% in January–July 2013, Cefic says. Production of chemicals fell by 0.4% in July compared with the year-ago period. Outputs of polymers and consumer chemicals rose by 1.4% and 1.1%, respectively, in July 2013 versus July 2012. The productions of basic inorganic chemicals and specialty chemicals dropped by 1.3% and 1.5%, respectively, in July 2013 compared with a year ago.
