EU Commission scrutinizes Huntsman-Rockwood TiO2, Ineos-Solvay PVC deals

The European Commission has, as expected, opened an in-depth competition investigation into the planned acquisition by Huntsman of titanium dioxide (TiO2) assets from Rockwood. The commission, meanwhile, is examining a revised package of divestments, submitted by Ineos and Solvay and designed to secure competition approval for those companies’ proposed European chlorvinyls joint venture.
