Chemical Week Magazine :: Newsbriefs EPA Orders Dow to Speed Michigan Dioxin Cleanup2:09 PM MDT | August 7, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Dow Chemical has reached agreement to clean up three dioxin-contaminated “hotspots” on the Tittabawassee River, downstream from its Midland, MI facility. The agency told Dow on July 3 that the company had five days to respond to an order to begin work on the hotspots, which prompted the settlement. The company has until August 15 to begin work, according to the agreement. EPA says it ordered the action because “Dow’s corrective action work under its 2003 Michigan Resource Conservation and Recovery Act license has taken too long.” EPA...
