Companies eyeing Novartis’s animal health business

Several companies have emerged as potential buyers of Novartis’s animal health business, press reports say. Novartis CEO, Joe Jimenez, said in November that the company might sell its animal health and OTC businesses if it cannot turn them into global-scale operations. Combined revenues of the two businesses were $3.7 billion in 2012, 19% down on the year before. Novartis is working on a portfolio review with Goldman Sachs, according to Bloomberg.
