China rare earth trading platform to launch soon

The Chinese government says that the country’s previously announced rare earth trading platform—Baotou Rare Earth Products Exchange (Baotou)—will become operational in October, on a trial basis. The rare earth trading exchange aims to regulate the sector and strengthen China’s pricing power. The government officially announced the trading platform in August 2012.
