Cefic: EU chemical output increases for fourth consecutive month (update)

Output of chemicals in the European Union increased in January 2014 for the fourth consecutive month, or 3.3% year-on-year (YOY), according to Cefic. Chemical sales in December 2013 were up for the sixth consecutive month, or 2.3% YOY. Nevertheless, sales are still below the precrisis levels, Cefic says. Total chemical sales for the European Union in 2013 were down 3.3% versus 2012 and are just 1.1% higher than the precrisis peak attained in 2008, says Cefic.
