Brazilâ€™s chemical trade deficit reaches $11.8 billion

Brazilâ€™s cumulative chemical trade deficit during the first five months of 2014 reached $11.8 billion, according to figures released by Abiquim (SÃ£o Paulo), the countryâ€™s chemical industry association. Overall chemical imports for the first five months were valued at $17.4 billion, a year-on-year (YOY) drop of 3.7%. However, the actual volume of products imported during this period increased by 8.4%, the association adds. Meanwhile, total monthly chemical imports during May amounted to $4.2 billion, a YOY increase of 9.2% and a 19.5% month-on-month rise...
