Borealis Offers to Acquire Fertilizer Firm PEC-Rhin

Borealis says it has made an offer to GPN, a subsidiary of Total Petrochemicals, to buy PEC-Rhin (Ottmarsheim, France). PEC-Rhin, a joint venture equally owned by GPN and BASF, produces nitrogen fertilizers, ammonia, and nitric acid at its Ottmarsheim manufacturing site and employs 180 people. Borealis is a major producer of polyolefins and base chemicals, and it is a major player in fertilizer markets in Central Europe.
