Chemical Week Magazine :: Newsbriefs BP Forecasts Reach Costs of $60 Million; BASF Predicts €500 Million1:30 PM MDT | July 25, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff BP says it is expecting the European Union’s (EU) Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (Reach) program to cost the company at least $60 million. BP says it has nearly 1,000 separate chemical substances that must be registered under Reach, leading to a charge of about $60,000 for each substance, once preparation, pre-registration and registration costs are taken into account. Crude oil and natural gas are exempt from Reach. Fuels are exempted from the authorization phase but not the registration phase of Reach, the company says...
