BP Aims to Boost Safety Performance

BP CEO Tony Hayward says he is committed to improving safety to restore confidence in the company, according to a recent article in The Houston Chronicle. The company will implement recommendations from a report by an independent panel that reviewed safety management systems and corporate safety culture at BP, the article says. The panel was convened at the recommendation of the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (Washington) to look into the causes of BP’s 2005 accident at its Texas City, TX plant that killed 15 workers (CW, Jan. 24, p. 11)...
