Producing solid AH salt, as opposed to the existing 62% AH salt solution, enables BASF to target long-distance markets that cannot be served economically with an aqueous solution, BASF says. AH salt is an intermediate for the production of nylon-6,6. BASF makes nylon-6,6 polymer, as well as products in the nylon chain such as nitric acid and cyclohexane, at Ludwigshafen.
