Ashland, Solutia Update Outlook

Ashland says earnings from continuing operations for its fiscal fourth quarter, ended September 30, are expected to be near breakeven. Ashland Water Technologies is expected to post a loss, and Ashland Distribution earnings are expected to beat those in the year-ago quarter, despite lower volumes, Ashland says. The company is due to report results on October 28. Meanwhile, Solutia says it expects third-quarter Ebitda from continuing operations to rise 46%, to $111 million, on sales up 29%, to $587  million.
