Arkema expected to close phthalates site in France

Arkema was expected, at CW press time, to announce the closure of the company’s phthalate plasticizers manufacturing complex at Chauny, France. The company held a central works council on 19 September to discuss the likely closure and was scheduled to hold an extraordinary works council on 20 September. The Chauny complex is expected to close in March 2014. “Production at the site has been [losing money] for some years now, as the industries supplied by these products have been declining,” Arkema says.
