Amvac biopesticide registered by EPA

American Vanguard (Amvac; Newport Beach, CA) says it has received EPA registration for its naturally occurring SmartBlock potato sprout inhibitor and will begin marketing immediately. The company says SmartBlock—already FDA-approved as a food additive—is classified as a biopesticide by the EPA. The molecule offers “safe, comprehensive long-term storage control” and can be applied using existing equipment, Amvac adds.
