AkzoNobel closes coatings plants in Sweden, Germany

AkzoNobel says it will close two coil coatings production sites, one at Gamleby, Sweden, and the other at Nuremberg, Germany. Production at the Gamleby site will be folded into plants at Malmo, Sweden; and Lipetsk, Russia, and production at the Nuremberg site will be folded into a plant at Hilden, Germany. The sites at Gamleby and Nuremberg will be fully closed by June 2015, AkzoNobel says. The company has not disclosed any cost savings associated with the closures.
