Agrium reports lower results as prices fall

Agrium has announced weaker results for the fourth quarter due to lower prices and a reduction in nitrogen volumes. Net earnings were $99 million, down 72% year-on-year (YOY). Sales fell 3% YOY, to $2.9 billion, as wholesale segment sales dropped on lower prices and nitrogen volumes. Wholesale segment sales were $963 million, down 24% YOY with segment Ebitda down 57%, to $210 million. Retail segment sales were $2.1 billion, up 5% YOY. Segment Ebitda was up 57%, to $195 million, which includes a purchase gain for the Viterra acquisition and a goodwill impairment...
