Chemical Week Magazine :: Newsbriefs Additional Infringement Claims in Isobutanol Fray7:59 AM MDT | August 17, 2012 Butamax Advanced Biofuels (Wilmington, DE) filed an additional patent infringement lawsuit against biobased isobutanol rival Gevo (Englewood, CO), alleging Gevo unlawfully uses Butamax intellectual property contained in its recently granted Patent 8,241,878 (‘878 patent). The ‘878 patent provides early protection for high-activity enzymes that perform a key a step in the pathway for making isobutanol, Butamax says. Gevo says it already holds a patent covering the technology in question, and has countersued to have the ‘878 patent declared invalid. The suits...
