Clariant has agreed to divest its water treatment business in Africa to AECI (Johannesburg), for 34 million Swiss francs ($38 million) in cash. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the second quarter. The water treatment business of Clariant supplies a range of industries, such as mining, automotive, food and beverage, and metals; the business also serves municipalities to ensure supply of drinking water.
