Russia to Join Cefic

Industry association the Russian Chemists Union (RCU; Moscow) has applied for associate membership of Cefic. The application was received recently by Cefic’s board of directors, and it is set for final approval on September 28, at the Cefic general assembly in London. The two groups have been cooperating since 2007 when RCU joined the Responsible Care program. Cefic says trade in chemicals between Russia and the European Union tripled in the past 10 years, to exceed €15 billion ($20 billion) in 2011.
